Poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

I go through months where nothing happens, nothing to write. Sometimes restarting it  takes force. Then, as in this case, the restart after lull of ideas comes a burst of them. Not all good not all terrible. This lull was broken by speaking notes into my cell phone, mostly in the morning on my drive to the university where I work.

This collection of poems includes both rhymes  and free verse. The bulk of the free verse comes from direct childhood memories whilst the quatrains are more like sketches of themes and visuals, I have always found to be interesting.

Jamison Odone is the author and illustrator of numerous books from children’s picture books to graphic novels, essays, and poetry. His most recent publications were My First Pandemic (Black Panel Press 2022), Mill Town Sonnets (Bottlecap Press 2022), The Last Starry Night (Black Panel Press 2024). Also in 2024, Odone saw the publication of his essay “Dedicated To Those Kingdoms By The Sea.” in the book More Than Love: The Enduring Fascination with Edgar Allan Poe. Last evening, Odone and his third son buried a dead fox in their yard. Hopefully that fox will haunt the yard and bring along new inspiration.
