Poetry, prose, chapbook, 32 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

These poems narrate what Sofia Silveira found after a period of acute depression and a quarter life crisis. From the fear of disappearing in her own mind were born reflections about how to coexist with the many versions of oneself, but also pieces about Latino identity, marriage, motherhood, patriotism, and Star Wars.

This chapbook is a love letter to the heroic role imagination and wonder plays in our everyday, adult, lives. It is also, she posits, what allowed her to find a new destination to her sunken ship.

Sofia is a Brazilian writer and New Jersey community organizer. She hosts a monthly literary open mic at Boonton Coffee co. and serves as a board member at The Sanctuary NJ, hosting weekly poetry workshops and nurturing connections through creative writing. She works at SIMN – the Scalabrini International Migration Network, in New York City, advocating for and learning about migrants, refugees, seafarers and asylum seekers.
