We, here at Bottlecap, are proud to announce that we’ve graduated from our old tumblr page, and are now equipped with a brand new, shiny website! If you’re reading this, that means you’ve already found it, and there’s nothing left to do! Congratulations!
This website will serve several functions that our tumblr did not. First and foremost, over time, we intend to develop it into a full-fledged blog, featuring work from a diverse range of contributors. This function of the site is still in the idea phase and there’ll be some time before it’s ready, but if you or someone you know has an idea for a blog or series of blogs, please contact us at email@example.com. We intend to feature a huge range of topics, from the old standbys of poetry and fiction to essays and journalism. We’re especially interested in educational topics like popular science, linguistics, DIY projects, and informational essays about your hobbies. We’re less interested in featuring content that’s strictly about literature on our blog (e.g. book reviews, community gossip, etc.) There are other blogs for that. We do intend to pay our bloggers, though we haven’t worked out a system yet– until we have a system, if you’ve got a pitch for a blog, don’t be afraid to also pitch your price.
Having a functional website also gives us the ability to accept submissions for a wider range of digital content, like visual art, music, and software design. These are features we intend to roll out over time, and info will be added to our submission guidelines as it becomes pertinent. This is a step toward fulfilling the full, original vision of Bottlecap, which is not simply to be a publisher of books, but to produce a huge variety of artistic and literary content. In the future, we intend to build a section onto our site, that, for several years, I’ve been calling “The Playground”, which will feature interactive art and games. It’s a pet project I conceptualized before Bottlecap Press was even a thing, and it’s got a very specific vision, but for now, you can think of it simply as our eventual plan to bring fun back to the internet. Bold, I know. Bookmark this page, come back in a few years, and this site will be loaded with cool stuff.
And of course, all of this is simply an addition to the Bottlecap you know and love. In fact, our 2018 plan is to ramp up production and foster aggressive growth all around. Because of that, I believe I can say that this moment marks the beginning of “phase 2” of Bottlecap Press. Welcome to the future, y’all.
