Basin of My Body attempts to hold all facets of life together, with two cupped palms (of poetry). Our joy is deepened by its proximity to sorrow. Our love is made more precious by fleeting time. We are all asking questions. We all want to be happy and loved. We will all die, and this universal experience lays a foundation, an opportunity for tenderness – and therefore connection.

Basin of My Body explores these things intertwining in the author’s life: her great loves, her grief, her hungry questions. This collection welcomes you into the author’s mind and soul as she explores realms of love, growing up, and wonder. It is a letter of her devotion to the world. It is poetry of life told with wide eyes, with outstretched arms, with heart pinned to jacket, ready for it all.

Zoë Geller-Alford is a young lover of the world. She has been walking a lot lately. And also asking & answering the question “How are you?” with more honesty. She studies Environmental Engineering. Also music, tattooing, mycelium. She believes in hugging heart-to-heart and hope. She overthinks every bio she has to write.
