Poetry, chapbook, 32 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

These poems move through kitchens, dance floors, city streets, and inner worlds. The chapbook invites us into moments that are tender and surreal: including inside gardens of flamingos, bullfrogs, and tulips. Desire hums beneath the surface, as does grief– sometimes quiet, sometimes roaring– but all grounded in bodies that want to feel, create, and connect. With a voice both intimate and incantatory, this chapbook conjures the part of ourselves that remembers how to move freely and closely with one another.

Animals Dance After Midnight delves into themes of artistry, queerness, and sensuality. The poems carry an undertone of magic and unfold as dances with partners and the world around us. The poems celebrate pleasure and expression for their own sake and reveal moments of enchantment and presence, deep into the night.

Kaitlyn (she/they) is a poet, dancer, and writer living in Boston, Massachusetts. She works as a grant writer at the International Youth Foundation.
