Poetry, chapbook, 32 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Prior to attending her first poetry class freshman year, this author hated poetry. Due to only reading a select sample of classic poems for high school, she did not understand why poets were obsessed with flowers, trees, the ocean, etc. Why poets compared their lovers to honey and roses. Dismissing the constraints of sonnets and ballads; she wrote freely. In this class of firsts, Tina discovered the world of modern poets becoming infatuated with authors like Olivia Gatwood, Danelle Doby, and Amanda Lovelace. This was the beginning of the tale.

Inspired, Tina wrote these poems during her undergraduate years. Documenting her journey of mental health, sexuality, unrequited love, and self. The Tragic Fairy Tales of Modern Life is a collection of desire, crushes, broken hearts, and the realization that life is in fact not a fairy tale. Sift through the pages as she romanticizes morning coffee, mediocre men, and the idea of happy endings.
