Malibu is iconic in her reputation as a fabled beachfront town, an exclusive enclave for the rich, famous, private and privileged. Living here for the past thirty years, my poems reflect the Malibu I know, a destination for nature lovers, surfers on the hunt, families raising children and animals running wild.

My poetry flows into mythical Los Angeles, a vibrant and diverse metropolis, sprawling with cultural heritage, famous landmarks and everyday wonders that ooze Hollywood history. Part elegy and part call to resistance, Just North of Malibu explores the dichotomies of these two dynamic cities ~ their beauty and despair, their apathy and protest, their fame and addiction, as they interlock in the soul intimacy connection of poetry.

Now, let’s jump in, Just North of Malibu.

Jolynn Freed Regan was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota.
