Poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Accompaniment in an Empty Room is a collection of poems that confront the inner conflict of not knowing your place in the world and wanting to change that. It includes poems on loss, identity, and queer love. Its lyrical prose paired with musical themes reminds the reader that heartbreak can be beautiful–but so can healing. Accompaniment in an Empty Room brings the reader along on a journey of yearning, grief, heartbreak, and–ultimately–acceptance.

This chapbook is for anyone who has ever felt their feelings are too big, missed someone so deeply they couldn’t think of anything else, struggled with knowing who they are, or longed to feel seen. The collection has done its job if upon completion the reader says, “I think I must learn how to put myself first again.”

Trinity Richardson (she/they) is a poet and student studying Communications and Creative Writing at the University of South Florida. She is a part of the Judy Genshaft Honors College, and a writer for Women in Technology International. She loves to spend time with her cat, Juno, and her fish, Chainsaw.
