Poetry, prose, chapbook, 36 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

The First Day on Earth is a collection of work recalling the moments in life in which you wake up and see blinding light, this world, and yourself in it. From birth, to every time the screeching alarm clock reminds you that you are alive, to seeing geese on memorial day and realizing it all over again. It is a story of being a woman and a daughter, told through the lens of Katherine Brooke Galvinhill’s relationship to herself, her mother, and the world through autobiographical poetry as well as short fiction.

Katherine Brooke Galvinhill is a poet and fiction writer from Central Massachusetts who is previously unpublished. She has been writing since before she learned how to grip a pencil, by narrating poetry and stories to her mother and scribe. She is an editorial assistant intern at The Worcester Review. In her free time she likes to take pictures of bugs and birds, talk to strangers, and write for her family and friends - who are her first and dearest inspirations for everything she does. Katherine Brooke Galvinhill’s poetry and photography can be found on Katherine.Brooke.Art on Instagram and Tiktok.
