Prose, chapbook, 40 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Inanimate Objects is Angel Dionne’s first chapbook. She examines manifestations of grief, guilt, and yearning through flash fiction and short vignettes.

Minimalist, offbeat, and at times surreal, the collection explores relationships between people and objects. In Inanimate Objects, vases become reminders of discarded connections, notebooks are transformed into tools, enemies, and lovers, a skeletonized bird is used as a prescribed remedy for grief, and a stolen kidney is a worshipped relic.

Angel Dionne finished her PhD in creative writing at the University of Pretoria and is now assistant professor of English literature at the University of Moncton Edmundston campus. Her work has been (or is awaiting) publication in Sein Und Werden, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Crack The Spine Magazine, Everyday Fiction, The Molotov Cocktail, JAKE, LitBreak Magazine, Surrealists and Outsiders, Good Evening Magazine, and The Missing Slate. In 2020, she co-edited Rape Culture 101: Programming Change which was published by Demeter Press. She currently lives in Canada with her wife and cats.
