Poetry, chapbook, 16 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Unbearable Grief moves through losing a sibling, the unbearable grief that came from it, and the healing that came from it over time. Losing a sibling is never an easy thing to move through, regardless of how that sibling died. To lose a sibling to an incurable disease is heartbreaking in a way some may never understand.

I lost my sister to MELAS Syndrome, a progressively fatal rare disease even medical professionals know little to nothing about, aside from textbooks. It’s hard to diagnose because of it affecting the entire body in some way. The unbearable grief I’ve felt has been hard. My sister’s kept promises helped me in ways many haven’t understood, until I found ways to share how she helped from the other side.

Jordan has lost far more than most their age. Far more than most they know. They lost their mother and younger sister to the same genetic disorder 16 years apart. It was losing Rachel that broke them in ways most don’t understand. They’ve gone on a mission to spread awareness about the disease and to share their mother and sister’s stories.
