Poetry, chapbook, 24 pages, from Bottlecap Features.
In these sudden poems Pagano delivers the immediacy of experience that an observer might realize in cinema or music. The auto does not lead the reader by the hand with explanation. The observer is left to decipher raw images with only the carefully curated language as a guide.
These experimental poems are attempts at capturing an idea of writing which is neither traditional poetry nor prose but both. Driven by image and the musicality of language they are intended to be experienced viscerally in the act of reading or as spoken verse.
Joe Pagano, Jr. studied Classics and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, and he was General Manager of The Onion in NYC. His work has appeared in Narrative Magazine, War, Literature, and the Arts, Blue Mountain Review, StoneShoes, High Shelf, and other publications. He was a finalist for the Pirate Alley Faulkner Wisdom Award.
