Poetry, chapbook, 24 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

No Eden is free from decay, and no Apocalypse is devoid of beauty. In this ever-changing world, life and death often blend and tangle together in the in-between spaces. Humans call these spaces dreams. Only the subconscious is capable of ripping down the boundaries constructed by conscious minds.

In these poems, S.L. Alderton explores the after and the before through the in-between. She searches for places where life and death, sacred and profane, cosmic and mundane, touch each other. Her primary medium is dream-logic, because only in the absurdity of dreams is it possible to imagine a world where seedlings sprout from stumps, gods rise from the dead, and people sing in the ruins of empire. These poems are out in the dark, looking at that world through a window. Looking for cracks in the walls.

S.L. Alderton is a Colorado poet, librarian, and storyteller. Her work has appeared in the Twenty Bellows anthology Welcoming the Muse, as well as in online journals such as 2River View and Red Fez. This is her debut chapbook.
