Poetry, chapbook, 24 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

grieving you is an exploration of love and loss of a romantic love. The poems within the book show the quiet moments of longing for someone who is no longer here. Grieving the memories you once had with them along with the unspoken words that were left behind. These poems are meant to resonate with those who have lost a love of theirs and fight with themselves on coping with no longer having contact with this person.

Upon the first read, the speaker wrestles with memories that live on in their mind and trying to learn to live without them. This collection offers readers a safe space for readers to grieve their own heartbreak and know that they are not alone in how they feel. Grieving comes in different ways and is never linear. This book can help those who grieve their losses immediately or even years from now.

This chapbook is meant for anyone who has ever loved someone so deeply, lost profoundly, and faced the inevitability of realizing that the one they thought would stay, no longer wants to. grieving you is a reminder that even when you lose someone, there is still light at the end.

Emily Jannel is a Puerto Rican writer and English teacher based in Tampa, Florida. Inspired by her own experiences in love and dating, she captures those moments of love and loss into her poetry. When she’s not teaching, Emily writes to process her own emotions. Allowing the words to flow through her and create a raw sense of emotion. grieving you is her third chapbook that comes from the ache of loving someone more than she should have.
