Poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Original Face is about the search for human identity in a world caught between nature and modernity. This work takes the natural world of rivers, stars, stones, and skies as its primary materials, but uses these as mirrors to point below the surface and ask: who are we, really?

The collection’s narrative arc begins and ends with the search for our true nature, but along the way explores beauty, longing, machines, memory, mortality, and more. At its core, it is a chapbook about our place in the world … a world where we can feel both deeply rooted and deeply alien.

If there is a central theme or thesis, it is that humans are themselves an alchemical process, with the potential of transforming raw experience into beauty and meaning. The chapbook hopes to stand as its own case study in that act of transformation.

Corbin Buff is a freelance writer living in western Montana. His poetry has appeared in Autumn Sky Poetry Daily, Misfit Magazine, Verse-Virtual, Cajun Mutt Press, After Hours, and elsewhere.
