Poetry, chapbook, 24 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

We Can Take it as a Gift is a collection of eighteen poems, that are all love poems in a way. Written over the last several months, these poems encapsulate some elements of what it feels like trying to figure out the ways of the world. There are themes of wonder, sadness, hope, longing, loss, and love. These poems may just be words strung together to sound pretty, or they may be real good poems, but the author hopes you can resonate with even just one.

You may be interested in We Can Take it as a Gift if:

you enjoy deer and fruit metaphors

you enjoy subtle, but true film and music references

you are in love.

If none of those things apply to you, she hopes you’ll be interested in giving it a chance anyway! The author believes she is growing into exactly who she’d like to be and you should read about it here, “I am on the cusp of twenty and I’m standing in a blooming garden that grows my future. I’m not who I thought I’d be by now, I think I’m a lot better.”

Emelia Cyr is a poet from Northern New England who is trying to write something that means something to someone. She is a student at a small liberal arts college in Maine studying creative writing and English. She published her first chapbook, Honey Shades of Blue with Bottlecap Press in 2024.
