Poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Isn’t It Worth It? is a poetry chapbook that takes you on a journey through heartbreak, grief, and love. The chapbook is split into two sections called “Inhale” and “Exhale”, named so to give permission to breath through rising emotions. “Inhale” recounts breakups, devastating crushes, grief, and anger sprinkled with religious trauma. “Exhale” focuses on acceptance of grief, opening oneself up to love again, and a blooming romantic relationship.

Ashley Lyn Werner loves to use the whole space of the page in her poetry, moving in flow with the words and themes of falling. Although this collection mostly stems from personal experiences, Ashley hopes to convey her emotions in a way that readers can find affirmation in their own struggles and joys. Grief comes from love; so, isn’t it worth it?

Ashley Lyn Werner (she/they) is 25 years old and writes both poetry and fiction. She got her BA in Creative Writing from Roanoke College where she mainly focused on poetry. For her MFA in Creative Writing at American University, Ashley focused on honing her long-form fiction. She lives just outside of DC with her fiancé, their axolotl, and two cats. This will be her first publication.
