Life, love, and listlessness through the train window is a passing love letter to life and the feelings and experiences of isolation that must also accompany brushes with love and understanding. At least sometimes. But it’s also a love letter to being on the train and writing down your thoughts on the train. The train is a place where introspection becomes very hard to avoid, especially when the view outside the dirtied windows is a nice one.

This collection has been pulled together from individual poems written across weeks, months, and years; mostly either about the train or on the train. It’s deeply personal in its nature, cataloguing only things that felt important to write down in the very moment, whether big or small. In this way the poems included span short thoughts and vivid moments, capturing them only in brief form before moving on. Almost like the train car moving itself.

Kaylee Gardner was born and raised in New Jersey. She grew up dancing and also loves to knit and crochet, hike, read, and some other things. For the past few years she has been working in nonprofit digital media, taking a short break to also study and work in Arctic geopolitics in Reykjavík. She also loves black and white cookies, Mediterranean food, and a very big salad.
