Poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features.
This is a collection of poems about youthful love, adolescent anxiety, and adult separation. From beginning to end, the twelve poems contained in this collection will give the reader glimpses of nature, romance and a coming-of-age story. The title of this collection translates from Italian into English as A Rose Garden in June. The twelve poems are meant to be symbolic of a dozen red roses, with a reference to a red rose appearing in almost every poem.
Throughout this poetry collection, the reader will be taken on a journey through the tribulations of growing up and having life change during the process. The first poem, “The Most Fragrant Rose,” serves as the cover page to introduce the remainder of the collection. The poems, “Daydreaming in the Garden,” “Two Young Hearts Unite,” and “A Summer to Remember” represent the youthful section of the collection. The next four poems represent the adolescent section. The final poems in the collection contain a variety of experiences taking place in adulthood, with the final poem “A Monument to Flora,” taking the reader on a guided journey through Halifax Public Gardens in Nova Scotia.
