Prose poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Successive Approximations is just as much about the structure of sentences as it is about the entanglements of human beings with one another, the world around us, and the art we make about it. In one long loosely interwoven poem, Hollander combines linguistic modes—concrete image, autobiography, metalinguistic reflection, scientific discourse, and declaration—into deliciously layered prose blocks. In the world of this collection, the universe's unanswerable questions may be uncovered, if only their syntax would cohere.

Emily Hollander is a New York based poet pursuing her MFA at Columbia University. She received her BA and the Sophie and Anne Reed Prize for best group of poems from Wesleyan University. Their work has been featured in Mudfish, GARLAND, Outrageous Fortune, and anthologies from Nightboat Books and Wesleyan University Press.
