Violet wants nothing more than to be a part of Gamma Delta, a sorority on her small college campus. The sorority sisters are flawless. They are everything she wishes to be. So, when Violet is offered a bid to join their organization, she knows she will do whatever it takes to be a part of the sisterhood. However, she learns there is a long road to acceptance, and to truly belong, Violet must transform into the perfect sorority girl.
Symbiosis is a literary horror story exploring desire in all its forms–the desire to fit in, to be seen, to be accepted. It is a commentary on the consequences of losing oneself in pursuit of the unattainable. The world of Symbiosis is an eerie companion to our own.
Matti Gleason is a writer from Oregon. She is working towards her MA in English and creative writing. Her poems appear in Stone Pacific Zine and boats against the current, among others. She writes uncanny short fiction and is currently working on a dark coming of age novel.
