Poetry, chapbook, 28 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

It Was So Beautiful, It Would Have Been Better If You Were There is a Speak Now-esque, documentaction of my experience as a 19 to 20-year-old woman. Seventeen poems, including one written for each month from October to May, deep dive into my personal life, as well as feelings many can relate to or feel nostagia toward. The chapbook presents a youthful angst that is universal because it is everlasting.

Using the chapbook format, I get to share real events from my life in the most romantized way. I’m also allowed to be vulnerable while maintaining my Fifth-Amendment right to a certain level of anonymity. The author’s notes at the end give further insight, but allow me to maintain a comfortable level of vagueness and room for the reader to decipher for themselves.

That is what is so fun about It Was So Beautiful, It Would Have Been Better If You Were There and being a prospective 19 to 20-year-old woman; there is an air of mystery.
