Poetry, chapbook, 32 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

A story within a story within a song, Sumpter’s Show me where the rain comes from. blends classic poetic forms with fresh, abstract work in order to fully comprehend the all-too-rare feeling of losing yourself, & then falling in love with you again. Calling on influence from pop culture icons like Hollow Knight, Hozier, and The Witcher, they explore their own queer self-actualization and contentment spattered on a backdrop of institutionalized religion and scorned love.

This collection of poems reminds you through fragmented narratives that sometimes, endings are bittersweet. Sometimes, you need to search out the origin of the world around you. Sometimes, you are that beginning point, and you are that ending, and you are everything in between. At the end of the day, that’s all you can really hope to hear.

Magi Sumpter loves to fall asleep to the sound of rain. They spend their days off reading sad queer fantasy and reveling in their cats' eclectic music taste. Their first two chapbooks - LITTLE ROOMS WITH BAD LIGHTING (Ghost City Press) and Utopia in Green (Kith Books) - are available now. Find them on Twitter @MagiSumpter.
