Poetry, chapbook, 48 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Live Action Capitalism is about mental illness, the internet, Big Tech, blackness, mixedness, diaspora, toilets, despair, and the eternal struggle of being in charge of a body in a particularly unsound reality. Populated by references and love letters to the Ronettes, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and a late 70s powerpop band, the poems are steeped in longing for something past, or at least different, and they search desperately for stability through sound and humor.

Ishion Hutchinson says, "Gold Carson Sánchez's poems have the wonderful agility to leap seamlessly between the personal and the collective while remaining intimate. At times the disquieting sense of humor—"The screen's sans serif text / offers an engineered sense / of possibility"—is less a mask or disguise but more a vulnerable face, risking chance."

Gold Carson Sánchez is a writer, artist, and musician who first came up in the New Jersey DIY scene, but mostly writes poems now. At Williams College, they are a member of hotbed collective, a Mellon-Mays Undergraduate Fellow, and the winner of an Academy of American Poets University Prize. Gold is a Leo of queer experience and Afro-Dominican descent. You can read their tweets on twitter @g0ldnews and their poems in Wax Nine, All Guts No Glory, and Public Intellectuals.
