Poetry, chapbook, 32 pages, from Bottlecap Features.
Charlotte Lucas’ second chapbook focuses on themes of mortality, nature, and politics. In regards to politics, the chapbook’s title references how ancient and timeless contemporary conflicts are, despite feeling post-modern and new.
The chapbook also analyzes an artist’s relationship with their art, as choosing solitude and the simple life of art may not be as productive and nurturing as expected. Follow the artist from poems such as “The Pianist” to “Solitude” in choosing a life governed by art.
Charlotte Lucas is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy as a Creative Writing major. She previously published the chapbook To Suffer with Bottlecap Press, and is a student at UC Berkeley.
