Poetry, chapbook, 32 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Arborglyphs (“tree writing”) explores the intertwining of human experience and the nurture of trees. The author uses the science of dendrology and his experience in forestry to examine personal loss, abuse, and healing through poetry.

These “short carvings” unlock the hidden qualities of each species, revealing a redemptive effect on the human heart. The trees stand as “a second wind for the climb / a cool mercy / for others.”

Jim LaMontagne studied forestry (BS) and creative writing at the University of Massachusetts and has a Master’s Degree in Theology (ThM) from Dallas Seminary. He lived and worked in Montana as a logger. He currently resides in South Hadley, MA. His poems have been published in a number of small press magazines, such as The Inflectionist Review, Ekphrasis Review, Silkworm and One Sentence. His most recent book is Merrick (Unsolicited Press, 2018). He can be found on Facebook and Instagram.
