Poetry, chapbook, 32 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

WORLD PEACE AND COWBOYS is a collection of words that could be poems, but also could not be. While it does not attempt to save the world, it does attempt to make it better (while also making fun of it).

Written over a year of exploration through physical space and spiritual body, WORLD PEACE AND COWBOYS may evoke twinges of nostalgia, absurdity, and mundanity. It’s being bathed in a sink. It’s getting on an airplane by yourself. It’s the ephemerality of teenage femininity. It giggles at the pageantries: both social and beauty. It questions if there’s really a difference.

You may be interested in WORLD PEACE AND COWBOYS if:
you have been prescribed an SSRI,
you believe in any sort of magic,
and/or you have fallen victim to mansplaining.

If these statements don’t apply to you, you might still like it anyways.

Paige McHatten likes to claim she’s not just a girl, she’s an experience. Residing in New England, she is currently working towards obtaining her bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Maine. She is a current editor of The Open Field, the university’s undergraduate literary journal. WORLD PEACE AND COWBOYS is her first chapbook.
