This body of work was made in some of my highest highs and some of the lower lows I’ve experienced. Through the elation and exhaustion, the peaks and valleys of life, we’re just looking for meaning in all this. I feel like as I get older I get a little closer and a little farther away from finding “meaning”. Sometimes life makes you feel like your premonitions are just delusions and sometimes rewards can be punishment.
At one point I knew what I wanted to do and who I wanted to be, and I didn’t realize how many versions of myself I’d have to go through before I found what it is I meant to do and who I’m meant to be. I’m still on the search for myself and this body of work encompasses a brutal self assessment as a young man who just turned 30 and realizing hasn’t amounted to a lot of the things he ever wanted, but finds the progress in the rough and the beauty in the struggle.
The themes, though personal and complex, can be condensed into: the Angel and devil on your shoulder, love, loss, hopelessness, hopefulness, happiness, sadness, anger, rage, frustration, self assessment, self reflection, progress, honesty.
