Doom Night is a poetry chapbook that explores the isolation of grief and addiction. Through the lens of a dog eat dog society, the narrator struggles with the brutalization of their mind and body from trauma. Claiming roots in Appalachian Grit, Doom Night is the plea for an escape from the rural depression left by a country that’s long turned its back on the region.
Doom Night is what happens when you come off a bad bender, and there is nothing left for you except the truth of your consequences. It is the hangover, and the subsequent rehab. It is the suitcase by the door. It is a man desperate to do better.
