A spontaneous delicatessen appears on Market Street in Astor, a dying small town in the heart of America. The appearance of Giuseppe’s Finest Meats brings with it a reminder of a wound at the center of the Midwestern town. A wound many would prefer to forget.

Niigaanimad Garrett Frank is an Ojibwe journalist, author and poet from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He is currently based out of the Lac Courte Oreilles Indian Reservation in Hayward, Wisconsin.
