The Blue House on Cone Hill Road & Other (Dog) Habitations is a hybrid collection of creative nonfiction and poetry that moves through experiences told or retold from the 1960s-1980s. Heather J. Macpherson attempts to show us how dogs can challenge our humanity and inhumanity.

Through representations of canines, real and otherwise, the reader is taken through situations of grief, the complexity of memory, and how we try to reconcile with what we know and do not know.

Heather J. Macpherson writes from New England. Her work has appeared in Soundings East, Variant Lit, The Carolina Quarterly, Bennington Review, 580 Split, Dr. TJ Eckleberg Review, Blueline, and other fine places including two great weather for MEDIA anthologies. Voicing the Less Dead, a collection of academic essays co-edited with Francesca Borrione is forthcoming from Lexington Books in fall 2024. Heather is the publisher and nonfiction editor at Stone Quarterly and teaches writing at Clark University. Find more about her at heatherjmacpherson.com
