Poetry, chapbook, 20 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

With haunt / ology, Dee Holloway embarks on emotional journeys and geographical ones. Whether commuting to work or driving to an assignation, the narrator’s movements mirror the heart’s inevitable forward momentum and the interminable American highway. Each poem shifts from structured form to free verse and back, exploring connections between landscapes, love, and the soul.

Oranges, historical markers, one-way streets, Lake Erie: free-floating memories glint crystalline on each page, conjuring past lives and eternal desire. Music and motion stoke reminiscence, locating the speaker within cultural structures abandoned as she moves from place to place, and person to person. With brevity and wry interiority, haunt / ology seeks the intangible feeling behind concrete experience, those selves and experiences “indelible as air.”

Dee Holloway is the author of the novella Little Nothing, the mini-chapbook Nothing Natural, and a variety of fiction, poetry, and zines. Her short work has been published by Weirdpunk Books, Bloodletter Magazine, Neon Hemlock, Islandia Journal, Mythic Circle, and more. She’s a library worker and Floridian in upstate New York.
