Poetry, chapbook, 20 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

In their second poetry chapbook from Bottlecap Press, Daria Deptula presents another set of twelve abstract prose poems. Memories of Flowers returns to the same harmony of nature and urban landscapes as metaphor that characterized Wire Rings this time, to speak on chronic pain, isolation, and disillusionment with life in one’s late twenties.

Entries such as “Notes on Singing Hymns Alone” and “Untitled (Quiet)” reflect on the stillness of solitude. “Sunny Skies with Wind,” “A New Shade of Dusk,” and others explore the challenge of learning to trust the goodness life has to offer. Memories of Flowers carries grief and joy in the same hand with every poem.

Daria Deptula is an author, novelist, and poet. They hold a B.A. in History and an undergraduate certificate in Creative Writing from The University of Texas at Austin. They published several short stories before the release of their debut novel, Solastella, in 2020 from Thurston Howl Press. Daria’s debut poetry collection, Wire Rings, was published by Bottlecap Press in 2024. When they're not reading or writing, Daria enjoys yoga, playing the piano and mandolin, and spending time in nature. They live in Austin, Texas.
