multiheart is a love letter to longing, echoing the sentiments of ill-fated romance. Through its playful and wide-ranging metaphors, the heart transforms into a candle, a waterfall, a lighthouse, a CrunchWrap Supreme, and more, over and over, always chasing reciprocation and never simply observing the twisting circumstances of its own making.

In this collection of micropoems, the heart transcends biological function; it is a shape-shifter, desperate to be anything that might finally be enough. Seeking, beseeching, and reverberative, multiheart is for anyone with a heart that’s tried to be everything but its own.

Samantha Schwind is a writer, editor, and poet based in Connecticut. She studied professional writing and psychology at Southern Connecticut State University as well as publishing and digital media at New York University. Her poetry has appeared in The New York Times Learning Blog, Red Coyote Literary Magazine, and the 2021 Connecticut Literary Anthology. Her poetry chapbook Enveloped: Love Letters was published by dancing girl press in 2025.
