Prose, chapbook, 20 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

Lisa is just like any other young pig. She loves to slug mud, eat wilting heads of lettuce, and hang out with her friends by the Slop Trough. Lisa and her parents have been invited to celebrate the New Cow Moon with their friends and family, though uncertainties arise as Lisa has never been to a New Cow Moon party before, let alone partaken in any cow traditions or ceremonies.

Pigs tells Lisa’s story of finding a new perspective and identity. While indulgently comedic, Pigs is a very small, tinted window into the author’s experience as a Chinese American transracial adoptee.

Aja Belle Schiller is a Chinese-American writer who grew up in Colorado and graduated from Union College in 2025. She currently lives in upstate New York with her partner and their two tuxedo cats.
