Poetry, chapbook, 36 pages, from Bottlecap Features.
This collection explores the liminal spaces of memory, loss and coming of age with viscerality that crawls inside the body and makes its way back out (or does it?). Del Sol crafts intimate, body-forward poems that examine longing and feminine desire through the landscapes that color in the emotional space — from the high desserts of Utah, to urban sidewalks and subway tracks. Written in a confessional, lyric style, underneath your fingernails is a collection that knows the body keeps score.
Shawna Del Sol is a Canadian writer who grew up in the Caribbean and is currently living in Northern California. When she isn’t writing, she works as a sommelier and yoga teacher. She loves staring out car windows on long car rides listening to emotive music. Her manuscript was recently longlisted in the Ploughshares Emerging Writers Competition.
