Poetry, chapbook, 40 pages, from Bottlecap Features.

WHILE CHANGING LANES is the story of a commute that leads through eldritch horror, the lands of the dead, skies on fire, and people who drive slowly in the passing lane. It started when Brian’s morning drive went from fifteen minutes, to zero minutes during the pandemic, and then up to two hours. Carving a path through the tri-state area led his mind to wander onto the world at large.

As his commute moves between microclimates, and his career through its own seasons, Brian notes the beautiful, the horrifying, and the absurd along the way. He’s worked to capture the feel of the entire drive (with a few bumps but reasonable suspension) in a single body of work, with the poems changing form and length as he flips through the radio dial.

Brian Hugenbruch is the author of more than sixty speculative fiction stories and poems. He lives in Upstate New York with his wife and their daughter. He enjoys fishing (but only in video games); Scotch (but only real life); and he spends too much of his time explaining quantum cryptography to other nerds. You can find him online at https://the-lettersea.com.  No, he’s not certain how to say his last name either.
